Job Description

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:  

St Paul’s School is seeking an experienced Accountant to support our financial operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with budgeting and compliance, and overseeing payroll processes.

The key focus areas of this role include:

  • Maintaining financial records, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Supporting payroll processing and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation.
  • Providing financial insights and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Ensuring internal controls and compliance with taxation, grants, and audit obligations.

The Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of St Paul’s School, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term financial planning.

Desired Skills and Experience

ABOUT YOU: 

To be successful in this role, you will have the qualifications, skills, and experience to support the financial operations of St Paul’s School.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with a recognised accounting body (e.g., CA/CPA).
  • Proven experience in financial management, including reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, taxation compliance, and financial regulations.
  • High-level skills in financial analysis, internal controls, and audit preparation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to supporting the Anglican Ethos of St Paul’s School.

Desirable Experience & Skills:

  • Experience working in an educational environment or a similar industry.
  • Familiarity with TASS or other school finance systems.
  • Experience with grant applications and acquittals.
  • Exposure to financial compliance reporting and risk management.
