An exciting opportunity for a school’s technical officer to join a dynamic and progressive school in our newly built Innovation Precinct space. This position will see you supporting teachers and supervising students with prototyping, digital creations, and robotics activities.

About the Innovation Precinct 

Our Innovation Precinct is a dynamic and collaborative space designed to inspire deep thinking and creativity. With over 34 distinct areas, it supports a wide range of learning activities, including product design, prototyping, digital creations, and robotics. The precinct features state-of-the-art facilities such as the Turing Lab robotics area, Creative Studios, Senior Study Centre, and the Possibility Hubs for hands-on learning.  

About the Role 

We are seeking a passionate and innovative School Technical Officer to join our Library and Innovation Precinct Team. This graduate-level position offers an exciting opportunity to support and enhance the learning experience of students and staff in a cutting-edge educational environment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist students and staff in utilizing advanced technologies, including virtual reality, 3D printers, drones, and robotics, across various curriculum areas. 
  • Manage and monitor the use of makerspaces and recording studios, ensuring a safe and productive environment. 
  • Support the operation of extracurricular clubs such as eSports and Robotics. 
  • Collaborate with educators to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices. 
  • Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous learning within the precinct 

 Skills and Experience:  

  • Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Digital Technology, Industrial Design, or Education (with a focus on teaching).
  • Proficiency or a willingness to learn in the use of ICT, robotics, audio-visual, and virtual reality hardware and software. 
  • Experience in managing practical and technical resources and equipment. 
  • Enthusiasm, initiative, and adaptability in a dynamic and evolving environment. 
  • Desirable experience working in an educational setting, particularly within flexible, collaborative spaces such as libraries or digital technology labs.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following skills, qualifications, and experience: 

  1. A certificate or diploma in Education Support, Library or Information Services or ICT, or be working towards a degree in library science or digital technology.  
  2. Experience working in an education setting in a flexible, collaborative space, such as a library or design or digital technologies setting. 
  3. Demonstrate working knowledge of ICT, robotics, audio visual, and virtual reality hardware, and software and/or a willingness to learn. 
  4. Experience working with and managing practical and technical resources and equipment. 
  5. Enthusiasm, initiative, and a keen interest in the role with the flexibility and the ability to adapt and operate effectively in a demanding and changing environment.
