ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:  

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of Design Technologies to join our expanding secondary and junior school learning area, providing students with opportunities to explore practical innovation and trade-based pathways.

Commencing Term 1 2026, as a full-time Teacher, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an engaging, student-centred curriculum that inspires problem-solving, design thinking, and real-world application. Teaching in our purpose-built Design Technology Centre, you will work in a space designed to support the pedagogy of design-based thinking and hands-on learning. Students are encouraged to develop practical skills, engage in authentic design challenges, and explore ways that prepare them for both design-focused projects and trade-based pathways. With access to industry-standard equipment such as laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, and fully equipped workshops, you will help students gain the confidence and capability to transition into a wide range of post-school opportunities.

As a Teacher you will be responsible for the delivery of a holistic education including;  

  • Creation of a nurturing learning environment which is student-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with curriculum, policies and practices;
  • Effective planning, implementation and reviewing of learning programs;
  • Maintaining professional standards as defined by the  Australian Professional Standards for Teachers;
  • Ensuring that the values and Anglican ethos of the School are upheld.

Desired Skills and Experience

ABOUT YOU:

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:

  • Qualified Teacher, registered with, or eligible for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technologies in a Secondary School in Australia.
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice, and engagement.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum (Technologies – Design & Technologies) and senior syllabus pathways (e.g. QCAA Design, Engineering Skills, Industrial Technology Skills).
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to engaging positively with colleagues, students, parents, and carers to achieve the best outcomes for students.
  • Ability to foster design thinking mindsets and student-centred learning, developing innovation, problem-solving, and practical skills through design projects and hands-on prototyping.
  • Capacity to support students in exploring and preparing for trade-based pathways, ensuring they build transferable skills and industry awareness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and Anglican ethos of the School.
