ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:
The English & Humanities Teacher delivers an engaging and challenging learning experience in line with the School’s and Anglican Schools Commission’s values.
Working collaboratively with Curriculum Leaders and fellow teaching staff, the position will foster a learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, engage respectfully with diverse perspectives, and develop a deep understanding of historical and contemporary issues.
This role focuses on educating the whole student academically, culturally, spiritually, socially, and emotionally, through high-quality classroom practice, a commitment to student wellbeing, and engaging, inclusive learning programs.
The candidate will be responsible for delivering a vibrant, contemporary curriculum using evidence-based pedagogy and differentiated teaching strategies to meet the needs of a diverse cohort of learners. The successful candidate will promote positive classroom relationships, uphold high expectations for learning and behaviour, and contribute positively to a supportive and collegial school culture.
In addition to classroom responsibilities, this role supports the School’s pastoral framework by nurturing respectful relationships, modelling the School’s Christian values, and demonstrating a genuine care for students’ wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the relevant Curriculum Leader, you will:
- Plan, implement, and review learning programs aligned with relevant syllabus and curriculum requirements (e.g. ACARA and QCAA), ensuring coherence, rigour, and appropriate sequencing of learning.
- Create a learner-centred classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, supportive, and respectful.
- Use differentiated and contemporary teaching practices to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Maintain effective classroom management practices consistent with the School’s Behaviour Management Policy.
- Assess, monitor, and provide timely feedback on student learning and progress.
- Maintain professional standards in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Actively support student wellbeing and pastoral care in the classroom and across the wider school community.
- Uphold and model the Christian ethos and values of the School.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine willingness to engage, connect, and care for students, supporting them to achieve their academic potential while growing in confidence, character, and faith.

ABOUT YOU
You will have qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and current or eligible registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
- Demonstrated proficiency across all Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: professional knowledge, practice, and engagement
- Comprehensive understanding of Child Protection Legislation and related School or ASC policies and procedures
- Experience in teaching both Legal Studies and Senior English are preferable.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Ability and willingness to assist in the organisation of Chapel Services;
- Ability and willingness to contribute to the extracurricular program;
- Strong commitment to Christian faith and the School’s Anglican ethos
